How to make your logo instantly recognisable

For some people, it’s just a big yellow M. For most of the world, the sight of that instantly recognisable logo would tell them that a McDonalds restaurant is nearby. That success didn’t happen by accident or overnight. It took a lot of hard work to make that little letter into that iconic logo that many people seek out around the world every minute of every day. Here are some of the things we can learn from their success, and some ways you can work towards making your logo as recognisable.

Choose a clear design

The first step of making your logo recognisable is to make the image itself instantly recognisable. Look at the logos of other businesses in your industry and make sure you avoid any of the same fonts, colours or even shapes that they use. Make it simple and easy to understand. For example, if you have a long business name consider just using the first part or the initials of your name. If you include too much text, it could be very difficult to read when it’s printed small or when it’s seen from a distance.

Get it seen

Once you’ve settled on your logo, it’s time to make sure it’s seen by a wide audience. You could do this by hiring a billboard, running an advertising campaign on television or even printing it on thousands of flyers to hand out. The only problem is many of these marketing techniques are often completely ignored or even discarded before they have chance to have any affect on a target audience.

One of the most affective ways to share your new logo is to do it online. The only problem is that the internet is so vast it can often be a struggle to decide exactly where the best place is to display your logo to make sure it’s seen my lots of people. To make sure your brand is found by those searching for it, it’s important to make sure you’re high up in search engine results. Employ a search marketing agency to help work on your search engine optimisation. They will then tailor a plan to help your business increase the likelihood of your website appearing at the top of any internet search that is related to your brand. As soon as someone clicks on your website, your logo should be easily spottable alongside the rest of your content.

Use it everywhere

Once you’ve introduced your target audience to your logo online, it’s important to reinforce that recognition by including the logo in as many places as possible. If they’ve bought a product from your website, include the logo on the order confirmation email, on all of the packing material and even on the outside of the box.

If you customers further correspondence, make sure that logo is present so they can make the link between the message and their previous experience with your brand. This process will eventually help you create a logo that customers will instantly recognise and trust.
