Contest title: Fire Department 9/11 Remembrance Design

Brand Name:

HCFR or Hillsborough County Fire Rescue
Summary: We are seeking a powerful and respectful t-shirt design to commemorate the 343 firefighters and all lives lost on September 11, 2001. This design will be featured on the back of shirts worn by members of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR). The final artwork should be simple, bold, and meaningful, suitable for printing on navy, grey, and white shirts.
Description:

Each year, we release a shirt design to help our department honor and remember the sacrifices made on 9/11. For 2025, we are hosting a design contest to give artists an opportunity to contribute to this tribute.

We want to maintain consistency with the look and feel of our past HCFR shirts while incorporating a respectful and moving remembrance of September 11th. This shirt will be worn proudly by firefighters and staff in remembrance and solidarity.
CH Wants:

  • Central Design on Back

    • Large “HCFR” in bold, block-style letters (our standard shirt font if possible)

    • Inside the HCFR lettering, a silhouette or outline of the Twin Towers

    • Above and/or below HCFR: a meaningful slogan such as

      • “Never Forget 9/11/01”

      • “We Always Remember”

      • “September 11, 2001 – Always in Our Hearts”(feel free to propose options)

  • Design Style:

    • Clean, bold, and easily visible from a distance

    • Looks good on navy, grey, and white shirts — use limited colors or shading

    • Preferably one to three-color design for easy screen printing(white/black/grey/red variations welcome)

  • Overall Tone:

    • Respectful, strong, and timeless

    • Tied clearly to both 9/11 remembrance and fire service identity
CH Don't Wants: Overly complex or detailed illustrations that won’t translate well to print Use of unrelated imagery (e.g. eagles, flags, unless very subtly integrated) Loud/neon colors or anything that distracts from the remembrance message Offensive or inappropriate slogans/artwork Anything that deviates too far from our current HCFR shirt style
